New Atomic Age
New Atomic Age
Designer and artist Elena Salmistraro takes her inspiration from the historical period between the 1940s and 1960s. During those years the world was a victim of the Cold War and afraid of the imminent nuclear catastrophe, but , despite the scary climate, the public found the strength to imagine a better future.
Bold and graphic shapes linked to the fear of the atom were recurrent in the artistic expression of the time as a symbol of the common will to change people’s destiny and defeat the overwhelming sense of fear.
The Scapin Collezioni collection by Elena Salmistraro reflects these neo-tribal and post atomic symbols through precious inlays and innovative resin carvings on marble surfaces.
